After School Specials 1982-1986 Movie

After School Specials 1982-1986 Description: "Includes Episodes:

"Two Loves for Jenny (1982)
Per the title of this ABC After School Special, teenaged Amy (Karlene Crockett) has two loves in her life: her boyfriend (Lance Guest) and her music. A brilliant violinist, Amy has staked all her dreams on winning a major music scholarship. A crisis looms, however, when Amy realizes that she will be competing against her youthful sweetheart — who is just as determined to win. Two Loves for Jenny is based on Sandra Peden Miller's novel and was originally titled Between Two Loves.

"Did You Hear What Happened to Andrea? (1983)
The dangers facing teenaged hitchhikers are forcefully brought home in this uncompromising ABC After School Special. Though she has been warned never to hitch a ride, Andrea Cranston (Michele Greene) feels that she has no choice when she and her boyfriend are stranded in the middle of nowhere. Besides, the man offering the ride seems like such a nice, harmless fellow. But he is nothing of the kind, as Andrea learns to her horror when she is raped and abandoned. Unable to discuss her ordeal for several days, Andrea is further traumatized when she finally breaks down and tells her parents: her furious father threatens to kill her assailant, while her mother wants to keep the whole incident quiet. Meanwhile, the serial rapist who attacked Andrea is poised to strike again... and again. The winner of five Emmy awards, this film is based on Gloria D. Miklowitz's novel of the same name.

"Ace Hits the Big Time (1985)
On the day he enters Kennedy High in Manhattan wearing a patch over one eye, sixteen-year-old Horace Hobart is urged to join what he believes is the toughest gang at school, the Purple Falcons. This wild musical spoof of dancing street gang movies (West Side Story being among them) soon finds “Ace” (as he is now called) and his gang having several choreographed run-ins with the Piranhas, their rival gang.

"Face at the Edge of the World (1986)
The Cosby Show's Malcolm-Jamal Warner stretches his acting muscles in this powerful ABC After School Special. Warner is cast as Charlie Curtis, a teenager who on surface seems to have everything — loving parents, supportive teachers, and many friends. Why then, does Charlie find life so bleak that he ends up committing suicide? Charlie's best friend, Jed (Rob Stone), spends the bulk of the story trying to solve the puzzle — and to come to terms with the tragedy. Based on Eve Bunting's novel of the same title, this episode was originally called A Desperate Exit."
