Amarcord DVD Movie

Amarcord Description: "Federico Fellini's semi-autobiographical Academy Award winner (Best Foreign-Language Film) depicts an Italian village living in blissful ignorance under the banner of fascism. This wistfully nostalgic film is easily Fellini's most generous and accessible, neither as esoteric or obtuse as his other "artier" works. Rather, Amarcord warmly and tenderly depicts love, politics, and family life in Italy, the era of the director's childhood. Viewers turned off by the abstract artiness of Satyricon, 8 +, and La Dolce Vita will be charmed by Amarcord's disarming poignancy and humor. The film's tone of child-like wonder marvelously transforms a story that might have been a downer -- after all, it is set in Fascist Italy -- into a glorious celebration of life.
